How To Adjust To Life On Base
Once living on a military base, it becomes very obvious that you are not living a civilian life anymore. It does take time to adjust. Below are some great tips that will help you.
1. Always keep your identification card on your person. You need it for almost everything.
2. Learn where things are located on the base. You need to acquaint yourself with places that you will need to visit almost immediately. Get a map of the base and locate these places first.
3. Learn military talk. The use of acronyms can drive you crazy. Learn what these words are. For example, BAH is short talk for basic allowance for housing.
4. There are many resources that can answer any questions that you may have. A great way to find out information fast, is to ask others who live on the base.
5. Get to know the other families who reside on the base. It will keep you from feeling isolated and like a stranger.
Military life is very rigid and ruled. Even gaining access into the base requires your I.D. Adjusting to these life style changes will happen sooner than you think.
