Pistol With Hogue® Grip & New Mag
My first impressions upon seeing the pistol were that the excellent state the almost mirror finish was (after cleaning the packing oil off) in. At a wholesale price of $189 I was already impressed !! ( So you're trying to say my life is boring?) After taking the pistol apart and cleaning all of the internals of the packing oil I re-oiled the pistol with Castrol's® Synthetic Gun Lube and decided it was time to put some rounds through it. 6 days later I actually did. The pistol comes with a 13 round mag that functions well but aesthetically has too large of a front lip on the bottom of the mag. But a functioning high cap mag is a functioning high cap mag so who's to complain. The trigger pull was creepy at first until I realized that it was the breaking in of the mag instead. The pistol does not fire without a mag in the well. When the trigger is depressed a plunger reaches into the mag well then travels upward along the mag which guides a firing rod into a hole in the slide in order for the pistol to fire. (Real technical terminology there, huh?) So by breaking in the magazine I was finally able to get a feel for the trigger. The trigger pull ended up being pretty decent in my opinion. Now if you want the exact trigger pull weight the best I could do for you would to be get out my fishing scale, which is already off by 1-2 lbs, and make up an estimated number. But since that would be bullshit I won't write it!! I put around 300 rounds through the gun without any cleaning or oiling without a single malfunction. It digested all of the brass cased ball and hollow point ammo that I could get my hands on. So next came some extra 13 rd. mags, which were made by Pro-Mag that I got through CDNN Investments. I tried some of the higher capacity mags that are available for High-Power clones and the original but I had problems with making them function properly in the gun used in this test. (Possibly the problem lay with the loading device used......me!!) I must say though that Tracy and "Randall the RMA man" at CDNN made the switch without any problems whatsoever and the exchange of mags was effortless. This may sound like a blatant endorsement but I think that people and companies that stand by their products and provide excellent customer service should be recognized. The next small upgrade to the gun was to strip off the plastic grip panels of the gun and replace them with a rubber finger grooved grip made by Hogue®. This really made an improvement of gun retention and proper alignment of the hand on the gun when quickly retrieved. All in all, a pistol worth owning and at a moderate price. So that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
