Having a spouse that is in the military serves as a great source of pride, but once they are deployed, it can be a lonely time. There are several ways of coping with this successfully, and thriving while your spouse is away.
Do not seclude yourself. Spending time with family and friends will ward off loneliness and depression. The more time you spend with others, the better. You may find it comforting to confide with other military wives or husbands whose spouse is on deployment. These people can truly understand what you are going through, and you can offer support to each other.
Another helpful tip is to stay busy. Hobbies, exercising, shopping, and spending more time with your children are all excellent ways to keep your mind occupied. The more you can think of the matters at hand, the less time you will have to dwell on how much you miss your spouse. Any activity that keeps you busy is fine, so long as it is something you enjoy.
